Recently, the latest Nature Index data revealed that our university has further climbed the rankings, securing the 106th place among global universities and the 54th among mainland Chinese universities (based on the statistical period from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026). Using the 2025 annual list—where we ranked 135th globally—as a baseline, our global ranking has advanced by 29 places as of March 2026, representing an overall increase of 21.5%.

The steady upward trajectory reflected in the Nature Index rankings is not only a direct manifestation of our university’s growing global research impact, but also a clear indicator of the fruitful outcomes achieved through our in-depth promotion of interdisciplinary integration and organized research. In recent years, guided by the strategic goals of the “Double First-Class” initiative, our university has advanced the integrated development of education, science and technology, and talent. We are accelerating the construction of a top-tier academic ecosystem, resulting in simultaneous growth in both the volume and quality of our research innovations. By establishing high-level science and technology innovation platforms, vigorously advancing organized research, and promoting the deep integration of industry, academia, research, and application, we provide robust hardware support for original and pioneering studies. This approach enables us to concentrate our efforts on tackling frontier scientific challenges and reinvest our research outputs to fuel further scientific innovation.

Looking ahead, the university will continue to align itself with the principle of “serving national needs, meeting Guangxi’s expectations, and leveraging GXU’s strengths.” We will consolidate the foundation of education through discipline development, drive technological innovation via organized research, activate development momentum by building a strong talent pool, and broaden our cooperative landscape through internationalized education. We will continuously enhance our capabilities in basic research and original innovation, and step up to play a pivotal role in serving national strategies and regional development.

It is reported that the Nature Index, published by Springer Nature, continuously tracks research outputs from journals and conference proceedings across seven major disciplines: biological sciences, chemistry, earth and environmental sciences, health sciences, physical sciences, applied sciences, and social sciences. It is widely recognized for its high scientific rigor and authority in revealing global high-quality research output and collaboration.
