GXU Named Among First-Batch Co-Builders of the China-ASEAN Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute

On July 29, the China-ASEAN Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute was officially unveiled as a landmark cooperative platform at the opening ceremony of the 2026 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week. Our university, alongside Sichuan University, Central China Normal University, Guizhou University, Guangxi Normal University, Guizhou Normal University, Baotou Normal University, Universiti Sains Malaysia (Malaysia), University of Saint Joseph (Macau), and Panyapiwat Institute of Management (Thailand), was named among the first batch of co-building universities. Xia Changlei, Assistant to the President, was invited to attend the event and the unveiling ceremony.

Spearheaded by the Secretariat of the China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week, the Institute is dedicated to building an international comprehensive education platform that integrates talent cultivation, curriculum co-development, scientific research cooperation, innovation practices, and cultural exchanges. To establish a regional platform for youth innovation and entrepreneurship, the Institute will host the World University Student Innovation Challenge and organize the China-ASEAN University Student Innovation Education Forum. It will co-develop a China-ASEAN Innovation and Entrepreneurship Premium Course Cluster and implement the Million Learners Initiative to extend high-quality educational resources across the ASEAN region. Furthermore, the Institute will establish the China-ASEAN Youth Innovation Fund as a financial engine for project growth, and build a comprehensive mentor database to provide full-cycle intellectual support. It will also construct an integrated industry-university-research-application incubation ecosystem to facilitate the commercialization of scientific achievements and the practical implementation of youth innovation and entrepreneurship projects.

Co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education, and the Peoples Government of Guizhou Province, the China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week is a national-level platform for humanities and educational exchanges. It has become a vital vehicle for China and ASEAN countries to engage in educational dialogue, joint talent cultivation, and collaborative scientific research. Themed Leveraging Smart Education to Better Build a Friendly Home, this years event brought together over 450 guests, including representatives from the education authorities of the ten ASEAN countries, embassies in China, domestic and international universities, research institutions, and industry enterprises.
